Local Attractions

We are advantageously located close to scenic, recreation areas and popular destinations. The town of Belfast and the coast is one half hour away. Renowned Acadia National Park is only a 1½ hour drive. Just three miles east of us is Lake Saint George State Park, reportedly the cleanest lake in Maine, and two miles west of us is Sheepscot Lake. Both lakes offer excellent kayaking, boating, fishing and swimming. Augusta, Maine’s capital city is 25 miles to the west of us. Best of all, we are only two miles from John’s ice cream, the best homemade ice cream in the state. We have traveled extensively throughout the state of Maine, and are happy to advise you in any of your recreational pursuits. Trains are a particularly enjoyable and poignant way to enjoy Maine’s scenery. We are fortunate to have a number of restored historic trains that are in operation, links to them are located at the bottom of this list.
